THE HOUSEHOLD OF GOD
God’s dominion is referred to as His Kingdom. The Bible speaks of the Kingdom of God, the Kingdom of Heaven, and a time when His Kingdom will reign on earth. A Kingdom is the realm of the King, and all that He has comes under the domain of the Kingdom.
It also refers to His Household. Whilst a kingdom is a realm, a household is where people dwell within a kingdom. A household is a people of a house collectively, including its servants.
Ephesians 2:19 says that we are “fellow-citizens with the saints and of the Household of God”. The sense of the Greek here is “a place of habitation, dwelling and belonging”.
Galatians 6:10 also refers to it as the Household of Faith. So we see then that God’s Household is the habitation of His people of faith, including the servants.
When His Kingdom is established on the earth for 1000 years, He shall also have a Household on the earth – a people representing His Kingdom. At that time, Jesus will inherit the kingdoms on earth and all rule and reign will be given over to Him as the principles of God’s Kingdom are manifest on the earth. The Kingdom trinity principle is Righteousness, Peace and Joy in the Holy Ghost.
In Matthew 24:45, Jesus talks of “a faithful and wise servant, who rules over His Household”. I believe this to be a company of servants, and He goes on to say that such a one “will be made ruler over all His goods”. So we have Jesus speaking of a future time when a servant will have total rule over all that Jesus has.
There are similarities here to Joseph and his elevation to ruler of the kingdom. Joseph is a type of the Sons of God.
The “goods” are literally “things of substance which exist and are held in possession”.
We could liken it to an earthly family for illustration, where there are parents and children. In that household there are possessions and the father is in control. Let’s assume that one of the children had outstanding abilities of leadership and was seen to have wisdom and was faithful to the household order above the siblings. The father has to go away for some time, and so to ensure the continuity of the family order, he elevates that wise and faithful child to have the control over the household.
Well it’s that simple in God’s Kingdom. The Faithful Servants shall rule over all things in the Household in the Earthly Kingdom.
Now of course any household must operate under rules. The Ruler then operates within these rules.
There is an order in God’s Household.
Paul says in teaching Timothy – 2 Tim 2:20
In a great house there are:
Vessels of gold
Vessels of silver
Vessels of wood and earth
Paul is exhorting young Timothy in this area how to act as a servant and how to grow in Kingdom principles. He continues this theme in the following 2 chapters.
I just want to dwell on the three vessels.
Whether we like it is irrelevant, but God does select His Beloved. He chose David purely because he had a heart after God’s own heart. If his brothers were the same then God would have had some other deciding factor. He called Solomon and chose him, calling him His Beloved. In fact God had His own private name for Solomon which was Jedidiah, lit. “beloved of The Lord”. God instructed the prophet Samuel to call him this name. Solomon’s natural name meant “peace” which was pretty good in its own right but God had a higher identity for him as His personal Beloved on the earth.
So Solomon who again is a type of the Kingdom Day rule, bore a new name given by His Father God.
I am expecting that a picture is emerging here in our understanding of God’s Divine order.
In much of my teaching, I reveal God’s order of 3’s and we see that here. All of these have Kingdom truth hidden for our finding.
The Three Household Vessels
1. Wood and earth. These speak of natural elements and represent the saints in the outer court who have come through salvation. They have the testimony of Jesus in them but haven’t gone on to know “The Lord”. They have not gone into the second realm of Holy Ghost. In the outer court there is no roof covering and they are subjected to all the natural elements without knowing their authority. They only know their denominational teaching with a form of Godliness but lacking the power.
2. Silver. These speak of the Sanctuary or Holy Place saints. They have come into the second court with the Power of Holy Spirit. This realm has a roof covering with protection from the elements. Also in here is the candlestick spiritual light which represents illumination of the Word. We also have the elements in here which point to the presence of Jesus, but only that. His presence did not come into that court. In here you have the “hope of Glory”.
3. Gold. This speaks of the Most Holy Place saints who have come through the burning of the veil of their flesh into the Glorious presence of Jesus. This is the only realm of His presence. The only light in here is the Light of His Face. Gold speaks of His Glory. This is the Secret Place, the place of His habitation. The saints in here have come into His Divine image and have passed from sin and death consciousness into His resurrection Life. This is the realm of the Melchisedek Priesthood, the Sons of God.
Which realm a believer is found in, depends on the Heart after God.
So again we have:
Vessels of Wood and Earth ~ 30 Fold saints
Vessels of Silver ~ 60 Fold saints
Vessels of Gold ~ 100 Fold saints
Again in the Household, we have 3 principles:
The Called
The Chosen
The Elect
What is The Lord Saying to Us?
I can only share what I believe He is saying.
In a natural family, you become a member of a household by birth, or by a law of adoption.
In the Kingdom of God, the same principal operates. We are born into the Household of God by Spiritual re-birth after accepting Jesus as our Savior. When this happens, God’s law of adoption operates and we become a member of His Household. Romans 8:15 says that there is a “Spirit of adoption” by which we know God as “Abba Father”.
If you are born-again then you are a member of our Father’s Household. How awesome is this.
Perhaps one of the saddest things is that there are many people who believe to be in this Household but are not. It’s not enough to say that you belong to a religious order, that you went to a religious school, or that your parents are religious. You may say that you do good things, and even believe in Jesus. Friend, if you have never accepted Jesus as your personal Savior and received Him into your heart, then you are not born-again. Jesus Himself said that He is the way, the truth, and the life, and there is no other way to God’s grace and mercy apart from Him. You can be born-again right now by believing that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died on the cross for your sin, and that He arose from the dead. If you will believe this, then confess this to God and repent of your sin and you will be born-again. God Bless you.
The other challenge is to all the members of the Household.
We have seen that the Household of God is a company of people with differing characteristics as in a human family. God’s family is a Spiritual Family, and even within this there are differing characteristics. The Bible calls them different vessels, or instruments.
How do you see yourself?
A vessel of wood and earth
A vessel of silver, or
A vessel of gold.
Do you dwell in the Outer Court,
The Holy Place, or
The Holy of Holies?
I think that we choose to seek after Jesus with our whole heart. Our Father God looks in His Household for those who are “wise and faithful”. He looked for David and sent the prophet to seek him out. He had seven brothers, but he stood out because he had a heart after God.
Beloved, this might be the very point in your life where you hear Jesus calling you to a higher realm in Him. Are you satisfied by just being a member of His Household, or do you desire to be a Kingdom Servant. You know, Romans 9:23 says that “the vessels of mercy were afore prepared unto Glory”. You know in your heart where you stand. You may be earmarked but have never yet surrendered everything to Jesus. He is waiting. You can only enter the Most Holy Place of His Presence through the rent veil of your flesh. You can come through the flaming swords back to the Tree of Life.
Remember there are some 30, some 60, and some 100 fold. Where are you in the Household? You can choose to stay in the 30 fold realm, or cry out to Jesus and ask Him to lead you into the higher realms.
There is a richness of the Glory of His Household. This “richness” literally means “to increase in abundance”.
Our Father God wants all of His Children to grow and increase. Jesus Himself grew in stature and wisdom.
I am here to encourage and to spur you on into the very fullness of Jesus.
We can all grow in the knowledge of His Riches. The “Light of The Knowledge of The Glory of God”, shines in the Face of Jesus, so you will not get revelation of Father’s Glory anywhere else. God asked David to “seek His Face”, and David’s response was “my heart will seek Your Face”.
Only by your heart seeking the Face of Jesus, will you get the knowledge of God’s Glory.
Perhaps this could be your prayer too:
“Fill me with Your spiritual Light Father, as I want to be like Jesus. Let my flesh become Word that I might completely lose Adam’s nature and come forth transfigured into the image of Jesus whom I love and worship. May this same Light shine from my face Father, that I might be a testimony to the Life of Jesus when I worship and give you my broken spirit and contrite heart”.
Jesus bless you friend, and if you want to email me, I will support you in your Spiritual growth.
Always for Jesus,
Larry Wilson.
