THE TOWER OF MEAH
A brief history of the times will help us grasp the Spiritual significance:
The books of Ezra and Nehemiah in the Bible are the account of the deliverance of those that were captive in Babylon, back to Jerusalem. The books of Haggai and Zechariah provide considerable supplementary detail, whilst the book of Malachi throws light on the general situation before the arrival in Jerusalem of Ezra and Nehemiah.
As a result of the Babylonian attack on Jerusalem in 588 BC, the Davidic line and kingdom as such virtually came to an end and the Solomon Temple was destroyed. The Jews were exiled in Babylon under the leadership of Ezekiel, and reflected on this tragedy construing it as the chastisement of God for their apostasy.
The Babylonian empire was overthrown by the Medes and Persians in 539BC. Cyrus the Persian king was an enlightened character who reversed the repressive policies of the Babylonians. He showed consideration towards those who had been forcibly removed from their countries, encouraging them to return to their homelands.
Now we read in Ezra 1:1,2 (which are the same as the last two verses of the book of Chronicles), that the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus, so all that happened was the work of the Lord using whom He needed to accomplish His purposes. Look at Cyrus’s declaration: “All the kingdoms of the earth has the Lord God of Heaven given me, and He has charged me to build Him a house in Jerusalem which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all His people? The Lord his God be with him and let him go up to Jerusalem which is in Judah and build the House of The Lord God of Israel (He is the God,) which is in Jerusalem”. How awesome that this decree comes from a man who worshiped “Sin” the moon-god. So all that happened from then was the working of The Lord.
The response to this decree came from the chief of the fathers of Judah (“praise”) and Benjamin (“son of the right hand”), together with the priests and the Levites and all them whose spirit God had raised to go and build the House of The Lord.
At this point I want to draw the parallel of this situation today. Israel are a type of the Church, the Lord’s people. Babylon is the type of religious confusion and captivity. As with Israel, so has the church been taken captive into religion, with its forms and traditions. Most denominational churches today are incorporated as businesses with their leadership holding control over the affairs. We have seen emerging particularly in the Pentecostal scene, the dynasty system where leadership is passed to sons to keep the power. I am reminded of the scripture which says that “ men make priests of men”. The church today is lost, searching for ways to keep people involved and even intimidating people who become too afraid to leave. There are no teaching prophets and the sermons are warm and social to keep people feeling good. I am not saying that all gatherings of believers are like this, but the general state of the Christian church is in Babylon.
Acts 15 states that the church is the rebuilt Tabernacle of David. Show me a meeting where you can identify it with David’s Tabernacle. The “Song of the Lord”, or the “New Song” of David’s Tabernacle, has been replaced with choruses. True worship in Spirit and Truth has given way to religious entertainment. Where is Spiritual Zion in the church scene?. (Where I speak of Zion, I am referring to Spiritual Zion which is where the Lord dwells).
Psalm 137 which remembers the mourning of captive Israel, also describes the church of today. They wept in Babylon when they remembered Zion. Beloved, there is a glorious realm of Spiritual Zion which most have never experienced or probably even heard of. As the Psalm says, “ how can you sing the Song of The Lord in a strange land”. This realm makes you weep. I have sat in meetings where my spirit has wept as I have Zion in my heart.
The Lord led me to Zion in 1983, and opened to my understanding the mysteries and hidden things found only by those who enter Zion’s gates with the King of Glory. Psalm 126 sings of the glorious state of deliverance from captivity to Zion. They were like “them that dream”. What is it like to dream? We have all dreamt. I think it means that the experience is so wonderful that it seems like you are dreaming, and that it is not really happening. But the fact is that it really is so glorious to come out of religious captivity into the glorious liberty and freedom of Zion. So great was it for David to carry the ark from the old Moses tabernacle of dead religion, that he leaped and danced before The Lord as the ark was taken into the new realm of Zion. As he did, his wife Michal looked through a window and despised him in her heart, mocking David in his worship. In 2 Samuel 6:20, he returned to bless his household but all he got was contempt and reproach from his wife as she accused him of fleshly behavior as a vain fellow. David disregarded her contempt as he exalted his worship to the Lord. In V 21&22 you see the heart of David as with humility he says his worship will be even greater. For her despising of the Zion heart, The Lord made Michal barren. Michal is a type of those who despise the glorious realm of Spiritual Zion, and these ones will The Lord make Spiritually barren. I have met them. They have despised me. They have laughed and mocked this truth, and even reproached me with a critical and condemning spirit. But like David, it just lifts me higher as with pride I behold the Lord in Zion. The Bible says that He loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of religion. It’s like a dream to me. I look at the despisers and behold barren meetings and a dead word.
Ezra and Nehemiah were among those who returned to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem and to restore the Temple. Ezra was the priest and Nehemiah was in oversaw the building and achieved political status. We read in Ezra 7 that the Lord had been preparing him whilst in Babylon. You see beloved, The Lord is forming and preparing the Ezra man in the womb of His church even though they are in Babylon. Ezra 3:1-4:5, the work of restoration begins. You will note that this all happens at the time of The Feast of Tabernacles. This is the last Feast yet to happen on the earth; The Feast of God’s Glory. For this to happen there must be a rebuilding of Spiritual Jerusalem to birth the Glorious Day of The Lord. Ezra is a type of the Kingdom Day prophets.
I want to refer particularly to a secret hidden in all of this, which we find in Nehemiah 3 which relates to the building of the walls of Jerusalem. The following diagram gives some idea of how it looked:
Nehemiah 3:1: Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brothers the priests to build and sanctify the Sheep Gate and to set up its doors so that they might open. The Sheep Gate is the gate that led into the Temple area. Now the gates on the walls were all hung from towers, or what we might call gate-posts. Each of the towers had a name signifying its purpose, but to us the key is their Spiritual significance. For the Sheep Gate to be able to operate and be able to be opened, the two gate-posts had to also be rebuilt and made strong.
We see in the verse that the Sheep Gate was attached to the Tower of Meah, and extended to the Tower of Hananeel.
To comprehend the Spiritual treasure here we must unfold the hidden secrets:
• John 10:7 – Jesus revealed Himself as the Sheep Gate. If any man would enter in, he would be saved, and go in and out and find pasture. V 11, not only was He the Sheep Gate, but He was the Good Shepherd. Not only can you enter in through Him but He will bring you to the Gate. I know that this scripture refers to the salvation experience, but He is also the same Gate in the Kingdom Day. In context, we are talking of the church coming out of Babylon, and Nehemiah makes it abundantly clear that the only way in is through Jesus the Sheep Gate which is being built. You see the Shepherd Himself is building this whole realm, but as we will see he needed a people to sanctify for His purposes.
• The Tower of Meah. “Meah” in the Hebrew means “One Hundred Fold”, which speaks of perfection. In Mark 4:20, Jesus explains this principal, referring to those which hear the Word and receive it and bring forth fruit – thirty, sixty, or one hundred fold. The Tower of Meah is the type of the Sons of God who He is building to “one hundred fold”!
• The Tower of Hananeel. “Hananeel in the Hebrew means “God Is Gracious”. The whole thing which The Lord is doing here is born of His Grace. The Bible says that “by grace are you saved”, but let me tell you this same Grace is building a realm for the deliverance of His church and their bringing to a higher realm into the rebuilt Temple of Solomon which is the type of the Kingdom Day.
To summarize, The Lord is bringing His Sons to one hundred fold in order that He, the Sheep Door can be opened for the sheep to enter in to the Feast of Tabernacles. This cannot happen until His Sons are made perfect and Filled with His Glory. This is all a work of His Grace.
The prophet Jeremiah prophesied this some 150 years prior. Jeremiah 31:38 “behold the days come saith The Lord, that the city shall be built to the Lord from the Tower of Hananeel unto the gate of the corner (which of course is attached to the Tower of Meah)”.
To the Sons of God I encourage you to see the Glory of the Lord’s dealing to change you no matter what the hurt, as He has to attach to us in order that He can be opened for the sheep to enter in. What a Glorious truth when you see it, that He needs us to perform His Mighty plans.
Jesus is the way into the Feast of Tabernacles, the Feast of His Glory, the Feast of Immortality and Life. What a Glory. This great Feast will happen on this earth and when this Tower of Meah is complete you will see these things come to pass.
The building of Jerusalem by Nehemiah happened at the time of the Feast of Tabernacles. As said earlier, Ezra was a priest who prepared His heart for this Day. He is a type of the Sons of God whose hearts the Lord has prepared for His Kingdom day on the earth.
Ezra 3 accounts for the laying of the Temple foundations and setting up of the altar. In V 10&11, you will notice that it was all done after the ordinance of David. They sang the New Song. All the people shouted with a great shout when they praised The Lord when the foundation was laid. This is David Tabernacle worship from the heart. No choruses, just from the heart. V 12&13 – Some of the older ones who had seen the original Solomon Temple wept with a loud voice and many shouted aloud for joy. So that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of weeping of the people: for the people shouted with a loud shout and the noise was heard afar off.
This is what we are going to experience when the Spiritual foundation of the Feast of Tabernacles is laid, and the people realize. The greatest praise meeting you will ever experience.
Nehemiah 8:9 – the people were taught that “This Day is Holy To The Lord, and they were not to be sorrowful, for the Joy of The Lord is their Strength!” V 12, there was great mirth for they understood the Word.
In Ezra 8:13, we have a glorious thing: - V14 – they realized that there was a Feast of Tabernacles!!
You see beloved the same has happened today. The church in its captivity in religion has been so centred on programmes and traditions that it has no idea of the Feast of Tabernacles. The Ezra Company does and when this is taught to the church, they will weep and shout for joy, for they will see their full redemption. The Sons of God will be the Ezra Company of prophets who break open the Book and reveal the Feast of Glory to Jesus Church. They shall be stunned by their years of blindness but this will be overtaken by their shouts of joy as those that see the
Truth will build booths unto their Lord and rejoice for Canaan.
My heart yearns for the day of the revealing of the “Tower of Meah” in all of their fullness and perfection for then Jesus will usher his sheep through Himself into this Glorious realm.
Of course we read further of the opposition to this but it did not succeed and it is another subject.
To the church, I encourage you to seek the Face of Jesus on this, for these things will happen, and you will see them if you do not die in the meantime. If this Truth lights a Light in your heart, ask The Lord to lead you to a Son of God. It is miraculous how He will do that. You can be delivered even now from Babylon into His Glorious presence.
To the Sons of God I say to withstand the fire of God on your Adamic nature as the remnants of straw are burnt up in the all consuming fire of his Perfecting. You were chosen for this. You are being brought to one hundred fold. The whole plan for His End Day move on this earth depends on our coming into His Divine Image and then He can open His Heart, the ‘Sheep Gate” and bring His sheep into Spiritual Jerusalem to hear the Sons reveal the hidden mystery of the last Great Feast. The noise of shouting and weeping will draw the nations of the earth to the Mountain of The Lord.

“Lord let your Kingdom come. Bring your Sons from obscurity that you may be revealed in all your Glory which will shine from the faces of your elect. Your Sons Lord have longed for the dawning of the Day that we may bring your Kingdom to this earth and truly the kingdoms of this earth will become the Kingdom of our God. Sound a trumpet in Zion Oh God that those who hear the Joyful sound will come to this Feast. Lord Give your Sons the Glories of David’s Throne on the Mount of Zion. Let the doubters and accusers and the despisers in heart have their eyes washed with eyesalve that the earthly and religious vision may be cleansed. Complete the Tower of Meah Lord that You may be opened by the Key of David which no man can shut. Your Sons worship you Lord with their broken Spirit and contrite Heart”.
